Inauguration of Plaza Satélite Park

November 6, 2020

Plaza Satélite Park is a continuation of the 2018 expansion to consolidate a new retail vision, where commerce is positioned as a vehicle to create green outdoor spaces for the benefit of the community.

This new four-hectare park is conceived and designed for the local society, which is so deeply rooted and faithful to the State of Mexico and its surroundings. It was designed from the outset as a space for recreation and leisure for the benefit of its users.

Located across from Blvd. Manuel Ávila Camacho, on what used to be the highest level of the main parking lot at Plaza Satélite, this green project represented a major challenge, since the construction and reinforcement of the structure for the park could not impede the operation of the property.

With a year and a half of work and an investment of $842 million pesos, Parque Plaza Satélite is now opening as the largest parking lot conversion project in Latin America and probably one of the largest in the world. As visitors explore it they experience changes in environments, materials, and experiences dominated by granite, marble, stone, fountains, wood and a planting scheme specifically designed in conjunction with Gabayet 101 Paisaje to enhance these outdoor environments.

With such an extensive green area created as part of a shopping center, Parque Plaza Satélite is a pioneer and benchmark for the country and the world. Here the opportunity for casual encounters and activities is desired to reinforce and foster community ties.

In addition to the community benefits, it offers the following environmental benefits: air purification, rainwater retention, the capture of polluting particles from the environment, reduction of heat absorption, and the creation of micro-ecosystems within the city.

Plaza Satélite and its partners understand the essential importance of green spaces such as parks to the physical environment of people and their communities. They are environmentally friendly, provide space for the enjoyment of the arts and nature, and they make for users who are healthier and happier within better-connected societies. As a result, private investment places this important, safe and flexible green space at the service of the people and for the benefit of the community so that it can be enjoyed and used without any commercial constraints.
