Located on a plot of approximately four blocks, Plaza Universidad stands out for its excellent location and visibility, with three fronts towards Avenida Universidad, Avenida Popocatépetl and Calle de Parroquia in Mexico City, which reinforces its connectivity and accessibility within the Mexican capital, consolidating itself as a key point within the urban fabric of the city for almost six decades and functioning as an important pole of attraction for visitors from different areas.

Since 1969, Juan Sordo Madaleno conceived this project with a clear urban awareness and as an innovative response to the cultural and social needs of his environment. Starting from a modular structure and an open design with interior patios and continuous volumes of solid walls, he laid the foundations for modern commercial architecture in Mexico.

Plaza Universidad, the first shopping center of Mexico City, significantly transformed the urban landscape and the way commerce integrated into everyday life. From its origin, the project incorporated a comprehensive offer that combined entertainment, fashion, gastronomy and services, positioning itself as a reference for modern commerce in the country.

In 2002, the shopping center underwent a general renovation that allowed it to upgrade its infrastructure and strengthen its commercial proposal, ensuring its competitiveness within an ever-evolving urban environment. Currently, it has approximately 83 stores, maintaining a solid commercial proposal, accessible and with high potential of permanence.
